Transport : Cairo to Alexandria by Train
The
morning wisdom was that the warm sun greeted us and a fresh breeze passed
through the glass windows on occasion. Only a few people were on the streets
that morning because most were probably asleep after working till the early
hours of the morning.
We
began our holiday because the steps stop as we saw the magnificent mosque
standing tall in the heart of the city. Masjid Al-Fath Cairo makes our heart
whisper what is the history behind
History : 3 Facts about Masjid Al-Fath Cairo:
- The mosque was built on the foundations of an older mosque that was built during the early Muslim conquests of Egypt. In the 7th century, Ramses Square was a village known as Um Dunin. The Fatimid Caliph Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah later expanded the mosque and renamed it "Al-Maqs Mosque." also known as the Awlad 'Anan Mosque during the reign of Mamluk Sultan Tuman Bay II.
- During the Revolt of Cairo in 1798, the French occupation forces destroyed this historic mosque
- 1990, on the same site, a new mosque was built. The architect Hussein Bikri created the new mosque, which was titled "Al-Fath," which means "conquest" in the Islamic context. The name Alwad 'Anan is still in use today.
We continue our journey and finally arrived the station. The train passengers who came from all over Egypt gathered at the same point. We took some time to snap pictures in front of Egyptian National Railways Ramses II

Our Hotel Accommodation
at
that time we planned to stay at a budget hotel with a view of the Mediterranean
sea we merely needed a place to drop our luggage and maximize our outside
activities, but the hotel we wanted was full, so we joined the waiting list in
the hopes that someone would check out the next day.
Next
day we still don’t get a hotel until we were arrived; however we were
entertained because the locals had already started our day with humor when we
arrived at Alexandria station
We
walked out of the station and found Alexandria's signature yellow black taxi.
My husband immediately opened a conversation with a friendly driver and he gave
a lot of information ranging from the most luxurious hotels to on budget and
drop off us to the hotel we choose. My husband who knew that I like buildings
with historical architecture then chose the Nile EXlisuor hotel.
This
hotel has a unique classic mini elevator and there is a song that is really a
new fun atmosphere. We were shown the rooms one by one by the hotel staff and
the hotel was very clean including toilet in every room. The layout makes us
feel at home. There are large color glass windows in the middle so the room
remains cool because of good air circulation and surely you think that the
architecture is so smart because he knows where the sun is coming from and uses
the window as a light source.
